About This Project

British Council Wales

BCW recently commissioned research into Wales’ Soft Power. With soft power being increasingly used to improve international relations, it was essential that the report looked professional and was clear and easily navigable whilst remaining within the British Council brand guidelines.

With the internal copy covering a multitude of complex issues it was paramount that the document was structured in a user friendly way. We broke down large sections of text with charts and tables and designed icons to portray key points. We included maps to give readers a visual indicator of the countries Wales was being compared against. Colourful tables were interspersed within the document, pulling out key pieces of information and display numeric comparisons.

We utilised British Council Wales’ brand colours but ensured the document sufficiently stood out amongst their existing materials, such as The State of Languages Report, by pulling alternative colours to the foreground  and using the remaining colours as accents throughout the report.

We also designed an info graph to accompany the report. The infographic used bold illustrations to convey key messages and was optimised for sharing across digital platforms.

All the documents were optimised for print and digital platforms.
